Introducing my new planner

I hadn't expected to be writing this blog post in this century! Yes, I am now a planner girl. And, yes, I'm back on blogspot. Here's how it happened...

I have been using a weekly diary this year. It's a space for me to write about my recovery, and be a little bit creative. Part of me wants to share my layouts, because I think they are fun, and the rest of me doesn't feel ready to share information about my health

So last week I decided to go to my local TJ Maxx to get a second diary. As I browsed I spotted a flash of bright pink, it was a filofax like the one Gala Darling used to have (but smaller). I was temporarily inspired, and nearly reached for it.

Then I saw the Carpe Diem planners.

They were much more affordable, and the company partnered with Pukka Pad a few years ago. Pukka Pad head office used to be down the road from my old house in the town I was born. So I felt a pull towards this planner.

The internal colours also reminded me of my college colours... which I thought might help me to get back on track with my studying.

I don't think I'll be using many features other than the weekly pages. I filled in the owners page in case I leave my planner somewhere. I don't think I'll use the stickers.

Each section has a month overview which I haven't filled in yet. I don't want to leave these pages blank but I need some time to think about what to put in them. Maybe they'll just be a place for reflection and I'll sum up the end of the day!? I'll see what I feel like as the month progresses.

My first week ended up being full of unplanned activities. So it's not really a good example of what a week looks like for me. That said, I found the layout useful for identifying one-five key things I want to focus on each day. On quiet days I decorated the pages and added affirmations and/or ideas that resonated with me (I'm also using this as a commonplace book).

The section dividers are pretty standard with a basic pattern that fits in with the colour scheme. I think they are a fun space to be creative.

Today I have been filling in tasks for the week. I know people don't always like decorated planners... and I hadn't intended to decorate so much but I had a book that got water-damaged during the last leak in my flat. I wanted to save some of the good pages. And I had some feedback in my probationary review at work regarding colleagues' concerns about my burnout so I wanted to add something that reminds me to take it easy.

I want to get back to traditional planning, but I've been making artbooks and junk journals for so long that the collage habit sticks (pun intended). I'm enjoying using this planner and it helps keep me away from too much internet. I think if I had to change anything I'd get a bigger version just because find some of the boxes too small to write in.

And if Pukka Pad ever see this... I'd love to write for one of your blogs. Get in touch :)
